U.S. Market: Index Divergence Hid Better Breadth Beneath Technology Weakness

On November 2, the S&P 500 fell 0.51%, the Nasdaq lost 1.07% and the Russell 2000 slipped 0.21%, while the Dow gained 0.41% and the VIX eased to 18.91. Technology and AI leaders remained under pressure, yet most S&P 500 constituents advanced. That combination points to rotation away from expensive growth exposure rather than a broad collapse in risk appetite. The near-term test remains whether earnings and cash flow can catch up with elevated capital-spending expectations.
Hotcoin Movers: Marvell and Semiconductor Exposure Became the Main Volatility Center

At the 05:53 CST Hotcoin snapshot, MVLLB fell 24.70%, while LITEB, INTWB and SNXXB each declined more than 13%. In perpetuals, MVLLUSDT dropped 24.93%, and CYPHUSDT and LITEUSDT lost more than 18%. Crypto-linked U.S. equities were also weaker at Monday’s close, with MARA down 5.02% and COIN lower by 3.98%. Volatility remained concentrated in high-beta themes, so spot products, perpetual contracts and underlying equities should still be evaluated separately.
Today’s Calendar: JOLTS, the Midterms and AMD Earnings Define the Risk Window

September JOLTS data arrives at 10:00 ET, U.S. midterm results will build after the close, and AMD reports third-quarter results before its 17:00 ET conference call. Job openings can reshape expectations for labor demand and the rate path. Election outcomes may influence fiscal and regulatory assumptions, while AMD’s data-center revenue, AI accelerator demand and guidance will test whether semiconductor valuations remain supported by operating performance.
